Full Term Baby

Well, I am 37 weeks pregnant tomorrow and know what that means? It means that we have a full term baby here. She is developmentally ready to handle life outside the womb. Can you believe it? Other than the fact that she is ready to come out, there are no signs that she will be making her way anytime soon. I am not dialated at all, no contractions or anything like that yet. But I am eating lots of eggplant and we are walking lots every night, so we will see what happens. I wanted to make it past June 1st, then I am ready for her anytime after that.

I was thinking the other day about how strange it is that once you are a mother, you will never, ever, not be a mother again. Isn't that funny how life works? It can actually be a very overwhelming thought at times. I am going to take these last few days or weeks, whatever my daughter chooses to give me, to enjoy the freedom of un-motherhood. There really isn't much left for me to do to prepare, so I am just relaxing and sleeping lots, two things I have been warned I will feel deprived of in the weeks, months, and even years to come.

Here's a couple pics of me (and one of us) at 37 weeks.

This time last year.....

It's hard to believe that it was around this time last year I was preparing for my wedding. Our first anniversary is June 3rd, so towards the end of May we were finishing up last minute plans and I think getting ready to head out to Arizona. I remember being so excited, so full of anticipation, so ready for the next step. Much like I feel today, I suppose, with this new adventure around the corner. And to think at this time next year, I will be preparing for our second anniversary, and chasing a little girl around getting ready to celebrate her first birthday. I am hearing i n my head right now, "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives." It really is so true though.

I had my first weekly doctor appointment today. They check you internally for dilation and effacement, I was a big zero. The doctor did say, however, that her head was "right there". We don't want anything too exciting to happen yet anyways. At almost 36 weeks, she's not fully cooked yet. Plus, John is heading out of town this weekend for 4 days and and early arrival would not be a good thing with daddy gone. Doctor also did an ultrasound to measure the baby, and she said today she measured at about 5 pounds 14 oz. She is a little person already. So hard to imagine.

She is very active when she wants to be but can be shy as well. After breakfast with Nicole today, she was a dancing queen for 30 minutes, but by the time we got to the doctor she had exhausted herself and wouldn't wake up for nothin. Doc wanted to see her move on the ultrasound and it was not happening. Looks like she likes her sleep as much as her Mama does. Thank goodness!

Wanted to post an updated pic of the baby bump for you all to see. Hope you all are enjoying the beautiful spring weather as much as I am. What a wonderful season to begin a new life!

The Bugaboo has landed!

Daddy building...

No easy task...

A VERY excited Mommy...

So cute! What a stylin' ride!

Cannot wait to see her in here!

Finally took the time last night to asssemble my favorite shower gift, the Bugaboo stroller. As much as I loved it in the store, it was a million times better at home. It was fun to take the time to build it together, and maybe it's just the anticipation of doing all these last minute things knowing that we are now in the homestretch, and our little princess could be riding in this thing any day! Anyways, the stroller is awesome, such a smooth ride, and I know she will just love it! If she doesn't, that's okay, I love it enough for the both of us! My new favorite thing.....

Our First Childcare Class!

So we went tonight to our first Childcare class. No, this was not our Childbirth Preparation Class (that's the big one). We don't do that till the end of the month. Tonight's class was a short, 2 hour class that went over some basic infant care techniques. Bathing, cord care, clipping fingernails, all that fun stuff. If anything, the class made me feel more confident than anything. Some of the people in there seemed so nervous and afraid of "all things baby" that I actually felt sorry for them. John and I were the youngest couple in there (by a longshot) and I cannot imagine how intimidating it would be to have left having children until that late in life. It was cute, one guy was probably in his late 40's and had a pen and paper, jotting down everything and asking questions like, "Is there a certain brand of rubbing alcohol you reccomend?" LOL. They were all nice enought people, just completely out of their element. Most of them (including the pregnant women) were still in their work clothes and looked like they just got off the train from Wall Street. They were checking their Blackberries for messages while the nurse was talking. Can you just imagine the scene? Priceless.....

Anyways, we learned a lot and I think John really enjoys being a part of all this. A few of the women had husbands who were "busy" tonight and couldn't join them for the class, it made me so thankful I have had him to hold my hand through this whole thing! Going to these classes reminds of both of how real and soon this whole baby thing is going to happen. This pregnancy has really flown by. Only seven weeks left? Where has time gone?

My Shower

So I had my baby shower this past Saturday and boy did I get spoiled! Seriously! If you click ob the links to my registries on the right of the page, you will see they are both completely cleared off! I am a lucky girl, and apparently this little one inside me is going to be as well! My mom also gave me a Hard Drive Handycam, so I can record all the precious moments of Baby's life and post videos directly to the internet. My husbands family and friends showered me with everything else, from registry ideas, to fabulous gifts baskets, and some of the most adorable little girls' clothing I have ever seen. We have absolutely everything we could possibly need and much much more! I will post a few pics, but I wanted to also say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who was there on Saturday. I really felt special and had so much fun. Another thanks to my family (Mom, Dad, and Jenelle and Tiff) who travelled many miles (again!) to be there for me at the Shower. It meant so much to me to have you guys there for the weekend. And to my MIL, Marianne, who threw a beautiful shower for me, spoiled me rotten (as usual), and really made me feel celebrated and special for the day! A million Thank- You's!
